In a bid to showcase Singapore Polytechnic’s dynamic learning environment, modern facilities, and diverse programs, Vicinity Studio embarked on an ambitious project: producing a series of academic videos that would capture the essence of each of SP’s schools. Overseeing this endeavor was Producer, Dos, who brought both a fresh perspective and a keen eye for storytelling.
Here, Dos shares exclusive insights into what made the project thrilling, the key learning points, and how the videos continue to inspire others, whether they’re future students or fellow creatives in the production industry.
1. What made you excited about this project?
Dos:
“This project is exciting for me because it was my first time working with Singapore Polytechnic, and the opportunity to produce multiple videos for their different schools made it both challenging and rewarding. It was also exciting collaborating with various teams from their different schools and learning different perspectives along the way.As someone who had recently moved to Singapore, this was also a great chance for me to better understand the education system here. Additionally, having access to areas of the school that are not typically open to the public made the experience even more unique and insightful.”
2. What were some key learning points?
Dos:
“One of the biggest lessons was recognizing how critical strong teamwork is for a large-scale, rapid-turnaround corporate video production project like this. Given we had to produce multiple videos on consecutive days, it was crucial for every member of the crew—alongside the client and school representatives—to stay aligned on objectives, schedules, and creative goals. We found that open communication and shared responsibility were at the core of our success. Despite dealing with multiple locations, restricted campus areas, and complex filming techniques, our team supported each other by stepping in wherever help was needed—whether that meant refining scripts on the fly or carrying gear across campus.
Ultimately, our smooth transitions and ability to adapt were the direct results of everyone believing in the same vision and trusting one another’s expertise. That spirit of collaboration turned a challenging undertaking into a rewarding experience for all involved.”
3. How did this project inspire others?
Dos:
“From a production perspective, this project showcased how effective planning, teamwork, and adaptability can deliver high-quality results for ambitious video projects. The positive feedback from the client reinforced the importance of collaboration and dedication in achieving a shared vision for the corporate videos. For the general audience, particularly the students, these videos offer a deeper look into Singapore Polytechnic’s schools, inspiring them to explore new possibilities as they plan their academic and career paths.”
